Frequently asked Questions
Q. When can I "check in" and when do I have to leave?.
A. Most people arrive later in the day as they have been travelling. Most people leave early in the morning but you are welcome to stay and leave later in the day if you have a late plane to catch. . We need at least 5 hours in-between so our house cleaner can visit, change the linens etc. so there should not be a conflict. If we have back to back reservations we will let you know. There are no specific check in or out times. We want you to watch the trees and the wind and not the clock.
Q. What about extra people. Do they cost more?.
A. Silver Creek Retreat is a two bedroom cabin with two queen size beds. For most families this sleeps four (if the kids really like each other. The living room couch is good for one more. We do not charge for extra people.
Q. What about pets?
A. All pets are welcome. There are no rugs to mess up and the denim furniture is fabric protected. Dogs love the woods. Please take them on walks away from the cabin or please pick after them so others can enjoy the property.
Q. Will I need a four wheel Drive Vehicle to reach the cabin?
A. All the main and secondary road leading up to the cabin are paved and well maintained by Jackson County. Silver Creek Retreat can be reached with any vehicle except in extreme winter conditions..
Q. What about smoking?
A. Silver Creek Retreat is a smoke free cabin. You can smoke on the porch or anywhere else outside. We do not want anyone to smoke inside the cabin... Please. Thanks.
Q. What about Garbage and Trash?
A. If you fill up the trash container in the kitchen we have a large rubber trash barrel on the back porch right next to the kitchen door. Please be sure to bag all garbage and trash. If that barrel fills up or if you would like the complete mountain experience, you can visit the Jackson County Trash and recycling station on the side road between Silver Creek Retreat and Dillsboro. There is a sign for the right turn on highway 74 as you head back to Dillsboro. They are open, Monday through Saturday 7 am to 7 pm.
Q. Do I need to bring anything except clothes?
A. You only need to bring your clothes and toiletries as everything else if provided. The kitchen is stocked with coffee, condiments and supplies. We ask only that if you use up a supply like coffee, or a condiment, that you replace it so the next person will have some. Everything you would have in your home for cooking and cleaning and living, is at the cabin.
